Doug's Story of Life

If you met me you would probably say that I look healthy, but that wasn't always the case. Two and a half years ago, I developed a serious health problem. Here I was, in what I now refer to as "the land of the dead", unable to even stand up and dress myself. I was kept alive with bottles and pumps and massive doses of antibiotics with nothing allowed by mouth, and lost almost half of my body weight.

Here, in my darkest of hours, I met Eva Glasure. We began talking about something that we both felt extremely passionate about, and as we continued our conversation, it became crystal clear that our shared dedication and vision did not bring us together by accident. We kept on plotting our future with a passion that was so inspiring. It was also here, after being given up for dead by everyone, that I had the awakening that made me an “Earth Warrior”.

I saw how we take this precious life for granted, and how we fill our lives with fluff and distractions and things that seem meaningless. I saw how we have lost our way with values. I took an oath, that when my health returned, I would devote my life and help inspire others to see what I saw. Enlightenment often comes from life-shaking experiences, my life was shaken alright, like a bad dream that would not end. But I refused to give up. Early this year, I had life-saving surgery and have regained my weight and health, and I am blessed to have a second chance at life. I once viewed my two years in the land of the dead as the worst thing to ever happen to me; now I see that it was the best thing to ever happen to me, because it makes me appreciate every second I spend here on earth.
